Class Registration & Payment Policy

Our classes often fill quickly, so to secure your spot, we recommend submitting payment as soon as possible. Registration is not complete until payment is received.

​

When registering online, follow the prompts to the final step where you can choose to pay online or select an alternate payment method (calling in, mailing a check, or stopping by in person).

​

Please review our cancellation policy prior to payment to understand how we handle changes or refunds.

​

Rest assured - your payment is never lost. If the class you selected is full, your payment will:

  • Reserve your spot on the waiting list

  • Be transferred to a future class

  • Be fully refunded if placement isn’t possible

  • Potentially help us open an overflow class
     

Important:

Many classes see last-minute openings, and it’s common for several wait listed dogs to move into a class before the start date. If you’re interested, register early - even if a class appears full.

At The Better Companion, we offer several convenient ways to pay for your class or service:

Payment Methods

  • Online Payment: Complete your registration securely through our online payment gateway

  • By Phone: Call us at (907) 357-2521 to pay with a credit card over the phone

  • By Mail: Send checks or money orders payable to "The Better Companion" or "BetCo" to:
    The Better Companion 1400 Regine Ave, Wasilla, AK 99654

  • In Person: Stop by the facility to pay with cash, check, or credit card. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment to ensure someone is available to assist you
     

Note: There is a $25 fee for returned checks.
 

Discounts & Special Offers

Pre-Registration Discount

Receive a discount when we receive your payment no later than two weeks before the class begins.

Use promo code PRE14 at checkout.


Please note: Seminars and workshops may have different deadlines and cancellation policies. Refer to the Special Events section for details.

 

Multi-Dog Discount

Enroll two dogs from the same household in the same class, and you'll automatically receive a $20 discount at checkout.

Please do not use the pre-registration code (PRE14), as it will override your multi-dog discount.

Follow-Up Class Discount

While you're actively enrolled in a class, your instructor will provide a promo code for $20 off select follow-up obedience classes.

This offer is only valid while your current class is in session and expires once the class ends.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans can change, and we aim to be as fair and transparent as possible. Please review our cancellation policies below for group classes, drop-in sessions, and weather-related cancellations.
 

Group Class Cancellations

  • If we are unable to place you in the class you registered and paid for, you are eligible for a full refund within 60 days of the original payment date

  • If you cancel your enrollment at least 5 days before the class start date, you may:

    • Transfer your payment to a future class at no additional cost, or

    • Request a refund, minus a $10 administrative cancellation fee

  • Cancellations made less than 5 days before the class starts are not eligible for a refund or transfer, as we are unable to refill your spot on short notice

  • Payments made by credit card or PayPal and refunded after 60 days from the payment date will incur an additional 5% processing fee, in accordance with payment provider policies
     

Drop-In Class Cancellations

  • If you need to cancel a reserved drop-in class, please notify us at least 48 hours in advance. Cancellations made on time will not be charged

  • Late cancellations or no-shows will be charged the full class fee, unless we are able to fill your spot

  • If a drop-in class is cancelled by us, you may choose to:

    • Move your reservation to a future date, or

    • Cancel it entirely and reserve a new date when you're ready
       

Weather & Field Conditions Cancellations

  • If a class must be cancelled due to weather or field conditions, we will notify you as soon as possible, which may be as late as the afternoon of class

  • Cancellations will be communicated via email and/or phone

  • All affected reservations will be moved forward by one week

  • If you are unable to attend the rescheduled session, you must notify us at least 48 hours before the new class date to avoid being marked off
